Activities Planned For 2012

Creative Arts Workshops

Is your business, charity or school looking for creative and fun children's arts and crafts workshops?

Creative Kids can offer either half day or full day workshops for children 5-12 years. Sessions can be delivered anywhere (within reason!) and involve a combination of Drama, Arts and Creative writing. Workshops can be anything from theme based activities such as Dinosaurs, Wizards, Monsters, Fairies and Mermaids or seasonal sessions focusing on Easter, Mothers Day, Halloween, Christmas or Valentines.   Our volunteer staff are all qualified CRB checked professionals with many years experience working with children and young people in the arts. Please call the office to discuss your requirements. Workshop Fees will help support future outreach projects that will help vulnerable young people in need of a better chance in life!

Olympics 2012

Site-specific theatre production on Greek Mythology.

Creative Kids are working together with local youth and Artemis Theatre Company to create and produce a very special historical production based around the original Olympic Games that took place in Ancient Greece. The performance will be staged in July 2012 to celebrate the Olympic Games in London and will be held at a secret location (to be announced in early 2012).

ANARCHY ARTS

After School Project launching March 2012.

Anarchy Arts is the 'youth arm' of Creative Kids that works with young disadvantaged people aged 13-18. After the tremendous success of last years' Pilot Scheme at The Grange School in Christchurch Creative Kids plan to launch a three year after school project at YMCA's recently re-built youth club in Pokesdown, Southbourne.

The premises will be listed as an Arts Award Centre. Within the centre young people can take part in a range of arts activities after school that include drama, dance, visual arts and music. It will be open to young people of all abilities and interests who can gain their awards in any of these art forms. The award is accredited at levels 1, 2 and 3 on the National Qualifications Framework. The course has the potential to offer 280 young people per week during after school sessions the opportunity to develop their creativity in a professional environment. Facilities include a state of the art performance space, recording studio and media suite and allow young people the quality time and space they need to address real issues.

WHO?

The project is open to all children age 13-18. We aim to target the following at risk groups who will be able to access activities at a considerably reduced rate ;

  • Young carers
  • Young offenders
  • Pupils with parents in prison
  • Pupils eligible for free school meals
  • Pupils identifies through CAF as financially disadvantaged
  • Looked after children and children in need subject to the child protection/safeguarding plan.
  • Pupils excluded from school

We have applied to Children In Need and Bournemouth Children and Families Grant for this project.
